जो मनुष्य साहित्य, संगीत, कला, से वंचित होता है वह बिना पूंछ तथा बिना सींगों वाले साक्षात् पशु के समान है । वह बिना घास खाए जीवित रहता है यह पशुओं के लिए निःसंदेह सौभाग्य की बात है ।

About Us
South Goa remained culturally eclipsed for many years until the birth of ‘Kalangan’ Centre for Performing Arts on 2nd September 1996 at Margao, the capital of Salcete province. Art lovers from Margao joined hands with this totally non-commercial organisation, with the sole aim to promote cultural interest and make the new generation culturally aware and active. Kalangan was formally inaugurated at the hands of noted writer, actor, director and Jnanpith awardee Late Shri. Girish Karnad on November 14th, 1996.

Indian Classical Music
'KALANGAN' is affiliated to Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Miraj. Pt. Ramrao Nayak Heads the faculty of Indian Music and is centre incharge for Gandharv Mahavidyalaya. The faculty of Indian Classical Music mainly imparts training in Hindustani Classical singing, Tabla, Harmonium and Sitar as per the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya syllabus. Admission is given to those who have completed 7 years of age. Total course is for seven years and every year final exams are held in month of April. In addition to this internal exams are conducted every 6 month.

Bharatanatyam
The faculty of Bharata Natyam is under the expert guidance of Guru Dr. Sucheta Chapekar and Smt. Smita Mahajan.
Hindustani Classical Singing
The faculty Hindustani Classical singing imparts training as per the Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya syllabus.
Harmonium
The faculty of Harmonium imparts training as per the Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya syllabus.
Tabla
The faculty of Tabla imparts training as per the Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya syllabus.
Sitar
The faculty of Sitar imparts training as per the Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya syllabus.
Drawing and Painting
Drawing and Painting class is conducted once a week (2 hours) for those who have completed 6 years of age.
